Funding & eligibility

Erasmus+ traineeships: where to start

Published 22 October 2026 · Independent editorial guide

Start with your institution

Contact your international office before applying. Ask whether your study programme and destination are eligible, which deadlines apply and how the placement will be recognised.

Understand the funding

Erasmus+ can support eligible traineeships. Grant amounts depend on your mobility project and circumstances; a grant is not guaranteed and may not cover every expense. Ask for the current award conditions in writing.

Prepare your learning agreement

Agree learning objectives, tasks, supervision, dates and recognition with your institution and host. Confirm liability and accident insurance arrangements before you travel.

Vocational education is a separate route

If you are in vocational education or training, ask your college about its Erasmus+ mobility projects rather than assuming the higher-education process applies.

Information is a starting point. Confirm current requirements and funding with your institution and the competent authority.
